Community Survey Results

In January 2018, the City commissioned ETC Institute to conduct a community survey, a follow-up to the 2016 benchmark survey, to measure citizen satisfaction with City services and gather feedback about community priorities.  The survey results were presented to the City Council at their February 27, 2018 meeting.

Major findings are:

  • Residents have a positive perception of the city - 84% of residents expressed satisfaction with Cedar Hill as a place to live;
  • Satisfaction levels in Cedar Hill are higher than national and regional averages in most categories. Satisfaction with customer service was rated 30% above the U.S. average and 26% above the Texas average;
  • 90% of residents expressed satisfaction with Cedar Hill police, fire and emergency medical services;
  • Top community priorities are traffic flow and congestion management, enforcement of city codes, maintenance of streets and facilities.

The survey results include comparisons of responses from cities across Texas and the United States. The survey was administered by a combination of mail, phone and Internet to a random sample of residents. A total of 434 residents representative of our community completed the survey which reflects a +/- 4.3% margin of error at the 95% level of confidence making it statistically valid.
