[ARCHIVED] Holiday kickoff at Uptown Village This Saturday

The fun begins with community holiday performances on the stage in the Village Green and will culminate with the shopping center’s fifth annual Grand Tree-Lighting and Santa's arrival at 6 p.m. and then a holiday concert by Ricki Derek and the Vegas Six.

Other activities will include a car show and toy drive benefiting WFAA, Channel 8’s Santa’s Helpers; kids ID badges and safety tips provided by the Cedar Hill Police Department; and a special “Shop Early” promotion rewarding guests with a free $20 gift card to use during Black Friday weekend, Nov. 23-25.

Details for Uptown Village’s holiday kick-off event on Nov. 17 are as follows:

Stage Performances at the Village Green – 12 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Select choirs, dance teams and more from our community will perform for guests on stage at the Village Green, located across from Barnes & Noble Booksellers.

Classic Car Show and Toy Drive, Benefiting WFAA-TV’s Santa’s Helpers – 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Vintage cars belonging to members of Midlothian Classic Wheels will be piled high with toys for WFAA, Channel 8’s Santa’s Helpers. Guests are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys. The toy drive will take place in the parking lot located near Razzoo's.

Kids ID Badges and Holiday Safety Tips – 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
The Cedar Hill Police Department will have a booth setup at the Village Green where parents can stop by with their kids.

106.1 KISS-FM Live Radio Remote and Giveaways – 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The live radio remote will take place at the Village Green.

Grand Tree Lighting & Santa's Arrival – 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Holiday festivities will continue into the evening with Santa's big arrival on a fire truck, the Grand Tree-Lighting ceremony, a variety of strolling entertainment, and a holiday concert by Ricki Derek and the Vegas Six. Santa will flip the switch to illuminate the 100,000 lights on Uptown Village’s 30-foot, interactive tree. Located in the Village Green, the tree will serve as the centerpiece for holiday décor at the shopping center and is programmed to play a holiday song every 20 minutes, synchronized with dancing lights.

“Shop Early” Holiday Shopping Promotion – all weekend
Guests who spend $100 or more at the shopping center Nov. 16 through Nov. 18 (at any combination of stores and restaurants) will receive a free $20 Uptown Village gift card to be used during Black Friday weekend, Nov. 23-25. To obtain the $20 gift cards, guests should bring their receipts (as proof of purchase) to the Guest Service booth, which will be located at the Village Green during the holidays. The promotion is limited to one gift card per family and guests age 18 and up.
